Interesting Letter From A Palin Detractor
Intersting stuff here. If I wasn't a fan of Biden before, I am now. Besides making claims that don't match the facts on the Democratic Party, Palin also delivered a panderingly populist speech. Remember folks, it was George Bush's folksy approach that won him the election. Don't get fooled again.
"Summer's ending..."
What is different about this blog post? Can you guess? Could it be that I am posting from New York, my new home? Yes, yes i believe that is what it is. Now, how is that going to effect your experience of reading this blog and interacting with my internet personality? Too soon to say really.
I am back now from tour. It ended up being far more epic that I really could have ever anticipated. We played 24 shows, busked 3 times(Ithaca, Chicago, DC), stayed in motels only twice, made friends in pretty much every state, got the car towed, got a speeding ticket, lost the car in DC, lost ten pounds, went half way across the country, and as if that were not epic enough for you we filmed the entire thing. Eventually there is going to be a movie about the whole experience, but you are going to have to check back in for updates on that.
In the mean time, our entire set from a skate park in Hayesville, NC is up on youtube. Go peep it here
ELECTION YEAR
Go to my music page on this website to download our new single "Election Year" for free! We are going to be pressing it onto vinyl when the time(and money) is right. Until then, download it and enjoy. There is a mix of the song that is going to be on our upcoming record and a remix done by our friend DJ Lonewolf. Enjoy it.
Tour 2008
Tour time everybody. I am heading out for most of July this year and I may be in your town. I may even be in your home, playing a show in your living room. Everything is pretty much booked, although there are one or two cities that I am still trying to get shows at. If anyone can help out with that, please contact me.
What else? Oh yeah, we should have a 7" out very soon. It is going to be a song off of our 3rd full length, which will be out in the fall. My friend DJ Lonewolf is going to be remixing our song Election Year for this 7" deal. More details as they come in.
Check the shows page for tour dates.
Top 20 Friends
So Fes got an email recently saying that we are on Billy Bragg's myspace page in his top 20 friends. Between Morrissey and Elvis Costello. Yeah, that sounds about right.
Good Fried-Day
Today was day three of recording for the new record. I am very psyched on the way things are sounding, very happy with the songs and so incredibly tired right now. Maybe not so much from recording guitar overdub for the past ten hours, but more so from the events of the last week. This is has been a hell of a week, no?
To be perfectly honest, I can't remember at thing about Monday, and I wish that that was because I was taking part in some St. Patrick's day festivities, but alas it was not. Then Tue. felt like an incredibly momentus day, sitting there in my basement office at work listening to Barack Obama make his "More Perfect Union Speech." I felt lucky to be alive at the same time that this speech was being broadcast across America. Somehow he managed to make an inspiring, insightful and intelligent speech while being more bluntly honest than any politician(save for Kucinich who has never really had the Democratic nomination at stake) I have ever heard. Brought right to tears at times. The rest of the day was spent reflecting on this speech, the swearing in of David Patterson as the new Gov. of New York and this annecdote that my father told me, that it is a Chinese curse to say "may you live in interesting times." But when times get "intersting" it is usually never just restricted to a Political landscape. I feel like I am caught right in the cross hairs of all these momentus things that effect me on a very personal level and things that I will feel the reciprocol effects of.
So what does this have to do with recording an album? Well you know how sometimes you find yourself in some kind of predicament, and suddenly a song pops into your head and seems to fit the moment just right. And it dawns on you, maybe for the first time, that that song is really good. I feel like when I have been listening back to these new songs, as I am adding my reggaeton guitar riff, that they fit the predicament I am in really well. I gotta tell you, that that is really one of the best feelings you can ever have. Does that make sense? I don't know...I just really want you to hear these new songs and maybe sing them with me next you time we see each other.
Where have a I been the last three years!
Appartenly the The Puppy Bowl has reached year four. I watched this for well over an hour, and you know what? I could have watched it for a solid 3 hours, no 4 hours. I am curious to know whether there are some actions that will get you kicked out of the game, or is it just if you piss in the corner of the arena that will earn you that kind of dishonor. Either way, I wouldn't mind just being a ref at one of these babies. It should also be noted that we watched this before going to bed and one of us just ended up dreaming about puppies all night long.
